More About SPS
As we approach the 2025–2026 school year, Bermuda's public school students need your support more than ever. Approximately 60% of school-age children in Bermuda attend public schools, and many classrooms lack the basic resources teachers need to deliver effective instruction.
Support Public Schools (SPS) was founded in 2018 by Juliana Snelling to bridge the gap between what teachers need and what is available. Since then, SPS has donated over $675,000 in supplies directly to classrooms across the island.
SPS.bm is not a registered charity. We are a community-driven initiative that connects donors directly to classroom needs. 100% of every purchase goes to supplies.
Why Supplies Matter
Research consistently shows that well-resourced classrooms lead to better educational outcomes. When teachers have the tools they need — from basic stationery to specialized learning aids — students are more engaged, more motivated, and more likely to succeed. In Bermuda's public schools, many teachers spend their own money on supplies or simply go without. SPS exists to change that.
What SPS Does
SPS responds to the specific needs of individual classrooms by purchasing and delivering the exact items teachers request. Our donations have included chair pockets, geomodel sets, cash registers for math instruction, phonics resources, headphones, calculators, sensory toys, art supplies, cricket bats, reading books, and much more.
Every item is chosen by the teacher based on their classroom's real needs. There is no one-size-fits-all approach — each delivery is tailored to the students who will use it.
History & Mission
SPS was founded in 2018 by Juliana Snelling after she discovered how under-resourced many of Bermuda's public school classrooms were. What started as a personal effort to help a handful of teachers quickly grew into an island-wide initiative.
Our mission is simple: to equip every public school classroom in Bermuda with the supplies and resources teachers need to give students the best possible education. We believe that no child's learning should be limited by a lack of basic materials.
Our Supply Chain
SPS works with two trusted Bermuda partners to source and deliver supplies: Phoenix Stores and AF Smith Ltd. These partnerships allow us to procure supplies at competitive prices and ensure reliable delivery to schools across the island.
When you make a purchase through PTix or a bank transfer, AF Smith fulfills the order and delivers it directly to the school — free of charge. This streamlined process means 100% of your contribution goes to actual classroom supplies.
Our Goal
Our goal is to ensure that every public school teacher in Bermuda has access to the instructional resources they need to deliver world-class education. We aim to expand our reach to every classroom on the island, build lasting partnerships with donors and suppliers, and create a culture of community support for public education in Bermuda.
